New “Horn of Zeese”

Here is the new “Horn of Zeese”. I went there for dinner the other night. Only small plates for the opening, “until we figure out what people want”, I was told. Fine with me, more choices in the Valley for places to eat dinner. I had a shrimp dish served in the iron skillet it was cooked in, with a glass of the Edmeades Zinfandel, which I thought was appropriate, since the first job I ever had was working for Dr. Edmeades at his new vineyard in Anderson Valley. Everyone told the doctor he was crazy to try and grow grapes here, which taught me that if everyone says you are crazy, it is probably a good idea. That line of reasoning has always worked for me. I finished with a Caesar salad. This one used Kale for the lettuce, new for me but it worked. I suspect the Kale was purchased this morning at the winter Farmer’s Market. Bill was $30 bucks plus tip. Hit the spot for me, I will go back.
